Generating Marketing Manager Jobs From Within

Many marketing manager jobs are filled by promotion of assistant marketing managers. However with the growth of the advertising and marketing field, management personnel are more and more coming in as new starts through apprentice programs. Usually a company will look for a management candidate who has experience in the general discipline of marketing jobs. That way the training is in management skills not in the core competency of the job description.

This seems to work best for smaller companies in the marketing and advertising field. It seems to build loyalty and an appreciation of the new job status and pay rate. Some companies say it helps retain employees in the long run as opposed to hiring a manager right out of management school and teaching them the core part of the business.

Another method of generating management material is to hire a freelancer. Someone with varied expertise in various niches of the marketing business who is brought on to manage a limited time project or campaign. Many of these types are so well disciplined that when they get an opportunity to manage a team after being one their own for so long, come to see the rewards of the marketing manager jobs and when made an offer to stay will usually welcome the unique situation they find themselves in.
